18/6 or 24/0 for Veg and 12/12 to induce flowering unless you are growing an "auto-flowering" strain such as Lowryder.

Myself, to keep things uber simple I plan on using the No Mercy 12/12 from seed method for my first grows. No need to worry about changing light timing ever and no need to have a separate flowering/veging chamber. Of course the 12/12 from seed method does mean needing a good supply of seeds since there is no cloning/mothers involved. Thankfully even No Mercy's seeds are nice and cheap too!
