Budget hydro?

Could i take one of my seedlings (about 4 inches tall and with three pair of leaves) and knockthe dirt outta the root system and hang it in the middle of a fish tank. Like use a screen or two dowel-rods and tie it up so the roots are hanging into the water. Then put enough miracle grow in there to turn the water blue.

Then I could hang an h.p.s. light above it. I might have to install a filter to keep algae from growing though.

You Have To Have Some Kind Of Pump Or Filter. The Water Always Has To Be Moveing And Not Still!

its also all about the oxygen in the water. so an airstone placed at the bottom of the tank will work, with an air pump pumping air to the airstone. the airstone creates bubbles in the water. dont know if you need to turn the water blue though.
