A 34-year-old Vancouver man is facing four charges of
trafficking in
marijuana, after being arrested for allegedly selling drugs to children at a
West Side cafe. The man had managed the Bubble World Tea Room on Dunbar Street
until his arrest on Monday. Vancouver Police spokesperson, Const. Sarah Bloor,
says his arrest followed an undercover operation by police inside the cafe. "He
is known to sell to 11 and 12-year-old kids, many of them Asian. "Apparently
this is a store that sees a high volume of Asian children who go to hang out
there because there's no alcohol served, and it's just a place for them to hang
out," she says. Bloor says the man doesn't face any additional charges for
selling to children, as opposed to adults. She says Canada doesn't have any
laws
like the ones in the U.S. that hand stiffer penalties to drug traffickers who
sell to children.
