Cannada - Medical Marijuana Growing Plant Clears Hurdle

An application for a medical marijuana plant in Hanover has passed the first test. The town asked for a legal opinion about the property proposed for the plant -- and the land is zoned appropriately for light industrial use. The Waterloo based business wishing to establish the company has indicated they have applied to Health Canada for licensing approval, under the Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations.

The town says the company must still comply with all Hanover building permit requirements. But if it does that -- and receives approval from Health Canada -- the company would be eligible to produce and supply medical marijuana to approved patients. The business proposal remains conditional until the final two approval steps are achieved.
