Chico Could Repeal Medical Marijuana Dispensary Ordinance

CHICO, CA – Medical marijuana dispensaries might not have a home in Chico after the city manager asks the council Tuesday to repeal the ordinance.

City Manager Dave Burkland recommends the council maintain the residential portion of the ordinance allowing for outdoor and indoor grows with restrictions, he wrote in the agenda staff report posted online Wednesday.

The U.S. attorney for northeastern California told city representatives in a letter July 1 and a meeting July 14 that the ordinance authorizes conduct violating federal law, and people who facilitate commercial cultivation would break federal law as well.

"As a result of that meeting, the city manager became very concerned about the risk for council and staff in relation to commercial marijuana activities and is now recommending that the ordinance be repealed and the related resolutions be suspended," Burkland wrote in the agenda staff report.

The council voted 4-3 on July 5 to adopt the ordinance that allows for two dispensaries of 10,000 square feet or less in the city after going through a public hearing and selection process.

How long will it take the American people to realize that they are slaves to a system that does NOT have their best interests at heart. The prison system has turned into the PRISON INDUSTRY. That should be the first clue....

As long as no one is hurting someone else, where is the crime? Yet every year there are hundreds more stupid restrictive laws that make more people innocent of harming others, criminals. And cities like Chico are going to stand for that? The glorious state of California is going to stand for that? The American people are going to stand for that?

What's wrong with us that we let them do that to us?
