okay...i live in a place where the garden store has a small selection and the only other options are wal mart and home depot. Wal mart pretty much only carries Miracle Gro which everyone says is horrible for our purposes. does anyone go to HOME DEPOT and know which ones are good? Which brands do they carry that works and which soil?

go to nychydro.com and order some foxfarms ocean forest soil, heard it was excellent soil for growing . miracle gro?? blah, dont waste your hard earned. you will find it under organics

I live far from all stores. I order from DH (Discount Hydro). Everything comes in a plain brown box, their sales people are awesome and their prices can't be beat.

Get the "Black Gold" potting soil, dolomite lime and some perlite. All from Home Depot. Also in spring watch wal-mart, youd be surprised at what they carry during spring; like worm castings and different organic nutes.
