Gophers

I'm wondering if anyone has every experienced problems with gophers eating the roots of pot plants?
I never have but I've never grown in an area that had more than the occasional gopher.

I saw a thing on TV where you take a beer bottle and put a little water in the bottle, then find the gopher or mole trail, dig a hole and put the bottle in the hole in the trail.

So when the wind blows it makes that hooting whistle sound just like when you blow on the bottle yourself. The gophers or moles dont like that sound and will move on somewhere else

I have know idea if it actually works.
