Im getting a 8 by8 tent will a 1000w and 600 hps and a metal halide cover this Trent

They say a 600 watt generally is good for a 4x4 and a 1000 watt covers a 5x5 area well although some run a 1000 watt in a 4x4. So I would say no, you are going to be a bit short on light.

It will work if you grow in half of the tent and leave the other half to walk in and do work, put an A/C or whatever else.

I don't see how an 1000watt. Light will only do a 5 by 5 area

A good rule of thumb growers use is to have 50w per square foot. In a 5x5 area is 25 sq ft, if we times that by 50w per you get 1,250watts. Therefore a 1000w is best suited for 4x4 - 5x5 areas.

You're not going to just put the light at the very top of the tent and have it work, you need light intensity. Light intensity is decreased the farther you are from the plants. The closer you get the light to things, the less coverage it can do.

You're still going to want to put that 1000w about 20" - 24" away from the plants. Regardless of grow style.

I'd say you can cover half of it, 4x8 space. Leave the other half open for working room.

Or get more lights.

I've read all over the inter net that. A 1000 watt will do 7 by 7 and the 600 will do a 4 by 4.

You never told us that you knew it all before you asked the question. Next time mention that somewhere in your original post and the nice people won't have to waste time explaining things that are easily googled.

For what it's worth, I agree with JJ as well. You'll need more lights for that size tent.
