A 30-year-old man was shot during an eastern Ontario home invasion Friday, and police say his house may have been targeted for the medical marijuana inside.
Two men, including one wearing a jacket with the word "Police" on the back, arrived at the house in Portland, Ont., around 7 a.m. on Sept. 29, according to a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police.
Portland is in Rideau Lakes Township, about 85 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
The two men forced their way inside the house, waking up the three residents.
One of the residents had a federal permit to grow medical marijuana, police said.
The burglars threatened the homeowners with a gun, and a 30-year-old resident of the house ended up in a scuffle with one of the suspects.
He was shot, and the suspects fled in a blue or grey Jeep Cherokee.
The other residents of the home drove the shooting victim to the hospital.
On Monday, the man remained in stable condition at Kingston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are still looking for two male suspects.
The first is a white male in his early 20s with dark hair. He is approximately six feet tall, with a slim build. He was wearing blue jeans with holes in the knees and a light-coloured jacket with the word "Police" on the back.
The second is a shorter, white male in his early 20s with dark hair. He has a heavier build and was wearing a dark jacket.
