I have been wondering what is the smallest pot I can use, to tell sex in plants?

I have a 3 sq ft grow area. It's 24 inches by 18 inches and 50 inches tall.
I would love to plant as many as possible, sex them, throw away the males, then trasplant three females into 2 gallon buckets. and utilize my space for flowering. Hopefully I will be able to flower three plants.

In other words, plant maybe six seeds in one gallon buckets or twelve seeds in half gallons pots? I really don't know how many seed I will need to plant to get 3 females.

I don't know if this will work, but I am thinking.

disclaimer: I'm in no way an expert on this..JMO

One plant in that area will/should overcrowd it. Do one at a time, one seed. Otherwise you'll have to throw one or how many ever more than one you have away. You don't want to throw a perfectly good plant out so you'll be tempted to grow more than one.

Size bucket? That depends on how often you want to water. 2 gal. should be adequate.
