Atlanta Hawks big man Miles Plumlee was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession in August.

Veteran NBA reporter Peter Vecsey (h/t Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) broke the news. Police records obtained by the Shelter Island Reporter (h/t Yahoo Sports' Ben Rohrbach) confirmed the arrest and noted he was Plumlee "posted $100 cash bail" after the arrest in New York.

"We are aware of the situation involving Miles," the Hawks said in a statement, via Cunningham. "We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time."

Rohrbach explained the NBA's collective bargaining agreement still features marijuana on its list of banned substances, meaning players face the marijuana treatment program after a first violation. According to Rohrbach, a second violation can lead to a $25,000 fine, while a third can lead to a five-game suspension.

The Hawks acquired Plumlee during the offseason as part of the package they received from the Charlotte Hornets in the Dwight Howard trade.

He played 45 games for the Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks last season and averaged 2.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

I'm not going to rant about people getting arrested for possession. It is what it is; wrong, of course - and generally nothing more than a practical IQ test :rolleyes3 .

But I'm going to leave a mini-rant about:

Atlanta Hawks big man Miles Plumlee was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession in August.

Veteran NBA reporter Peter Vecsey (h/t Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) broke the news. Police records obtained by the Shelter Island Reporter (h/t Yahoo Sports' Ben Rohrbach) confirmed the arrest and noted he was Plumlee "posted $100 cash bail" after the arrest in New York.

$100 bail? C'mon, now! That's even more wrong than what the guy got arrested for, lol. IDK what the average income is for the forum membership. But me... I could probably pull that out of the grocery money, except I don't spend that much on food in a week (and usually not in two weeks). But it looks like THIS guy's salary for the year will be $12,700,000. And that's just his base salary, not counting bonuses. So his bail was 0.0007874% of his base salary.

Is it any wonder that rich people don't have quite the... fear of fines, bail, et cetera that normal working people do? What's the current federal minimum wage, $7.25? Assuming full time (40 hours/week), that'd be $15,080 per year. A guy making that, arrested for the same thing and given the same cash bail would be paying 0.66313% of his yearly salary. If THAT were scaled up for the dribbler guy, his cash bail amount would have been $84,217.51 instead of a hundred bucks.

There's no justice in this country. At least in "corrupt" nations - where everything is decided through bribes and baksheesh - they hit the rich for more money than they do the poor....
