How do i get around this?

Hi again!

Im trying to work out the running cost of a 250w HPS - mainly just for my own knowledge

So 250w x 18 Hours a day = 4500 / 1000 = 4.5kwh Correct?

4.5 x 18 hours = 81kw so im assuming this is per day usage?

say an average month is 30 days - 30 x 81 = 2430kw per month

kwh here are 0.21 Cents?? (Fuckin Carbon tax) 21c x 2430 = $510.30 PER MONTH W.T.F.

Im wondering if there (haha) is any way around this ?

It looks like you multiplied too much.

You already got 4.5kWh from your first formula, so no point is multiplying it again by 18 hours (kilo-watt hour already represents that)

4.5kWh per day X 30 days = 135kWh per month

135 kWh x .21 cents = 28.35

You should be looking at around $30 per month.

Thanks for the quick response JJB - See thats how i worked it out the first time on my last 2 600w MH grows, i got bills every 3 months from $1700 - $2000!! the only thing i can think of is if i had a faulty ballast (its a purple growlush one with the toggle intensity switch) hence why ive started using the LED lights, but growth is light years apart..
