HPS Bulb Question

Hey there everyone, I have quick question that someone with some HPS experience may be able to help me with:

I recently received a bulb that, on the inside right near the base, where there is "fogged glass" it seems a bit "chipped". I fired up the bulb for a few hours, and all went okay (first time firing a HID bulb) except I notice afterwards, the flakes that were in there seemed to have "burned up" and left a whitish/greyish residue on the inside of the bulb.

I would also like to note that this was shipped in a package that had a broken MH bulb, so it is quite likely damaged: I guess my question is, how much? is this "common"? Either way i've already mentioned it to the ebay seller.

for anyone who may have had the same issue:

The bulb blew a few minutes into its second burning: I think it had something to do with the nutty electronic ballast I was running it in. Replaced!

Its not unusual to be a little bit of debris inside the bulb. Usually they still work fine. Don't know why they aren't completely sanatized during construction.
