For marijuana, this means the first cross (F1) of dissimilar strains results in approximately 25% more vitality. This is illustrated clearly in the picture below. On top, you find a cross of Holy Diver x Harlequin F1. Below is a cross that has already seen the Holy Diver genetics from the previous year, though not a BX1. Just in the germination rate alone, you can see the difference (it is the cold season here, so germination rates can be low). But also, look at the size difference. These seeds were planted on the same day. This is a great reason to use F1 crosses for increased yields and as mothers for cloning.
