The only medical cannabis dispensary in the Imperial Valley, RemedX in El Centro, was closed by police yesterday, Jan 13, 2009. According to an eyewitness, police claimed that the dispensary had an invalid business permit. DEA personnel are thought to have been present. Police demanded patient IDs from patients who arrived on the scene and told them they would be subject to arrest if they didn't have state ID cards. RemedX had recently come under new management. Their telephone recording says that they have been closed by the city.

I used to live in El Centro. Still have family there to this day. Uncle, aunt, cousins and neices and nephs as well.lol Hot nasty area.lol Bet my cousin used this dispensary. Too bad these anti-cannabis crusader government sheep types can't see the good in cannabis as medicine. Even when it's state legal they look for ways to make it hard.

The Imperial Valley was the site of the first legal hemp grow in 50 years in 1994. The Hempstead company got permission from the USDA research center to grow industrial hemp to make products from hemp. Local kids were breaking into the field and stealing the ultra-low grade hemp plants (around .03% THC) and authorities got word of it and shut down his operation before the company even got to harvest. You can check out a video on it at YouTube - Hemp Field 1994 Hempstead Company
