Industrial hemp to be topic of meeting
Tresa McAlhaney, chairwoman of the Wyandotte County Libertarian Party, will speak about industrial hemp at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Prescott Room of Salina Public Library, 301 W. Elm.
Industrial hemp requires little water and little or no pesticides or fertilizers, and it is particularly suited to the growing conditions of soils in Kansas. It also is durable and can be used to make consumer products including clothing, rope, canvas and fiberboard.
