Judge Delays Decision On Med Marijuana Ordinance

A judge has delayed a decision on whether to bar Los Angeles from enforcing its medical marijuana ordinance against four collectives.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Anthony Mohr said during a hearing Thursday that he believed the city's ordinance had some flaws, but he was not certain that it violated the rights of collectives that were forced to shut down by June 7 when the law went into effect.

A decision to grant preliminary injunctions could bring a halt to the city's efforts to close about 400 dispensaries and might force a revision of the laws. Although the injunctions would apply to four dispensaries, scores more would probably seek similar orders.

Mohr said he would rule after July 23 after both sides have submitted additional briefs.
