With the tagline "It's Hip to know Hemp," a new area festival intends to draw a crowd.

Colorado HempFest is set for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 12—14, west of Collbran at The Drive In, 57510 Colorado Highway 330.

Each day a lineup of presenters will give educational talks and information about hemp with topics varying from growing and processing hemp to hemp's many uses including hemp for clothing, food, medicine, oil and fuel.

A Hemp Expo will feature a number of exhibitors and vendors with hemp-related products, services and information.

There will be hemp farm tours, hackey sack and disc golf tournaments, a beer garden and a children's play area.

A long lineup of music is scheduled for each day featuring a variety of local and regional bands and musicians.

On-site camping options are full.

General admission tickets will be available at the gate for one day ($34 for teens ages 13—20 and seniors 50 and older, $39 for adults age 21—49) or all three days ($78, $88).

Children ages 12 and younger get in free with an adult or senior ticket holder.

VIP tickets are available and include admission to the festival and a VIP area, a Friday banquet, meals all three days and more.

Backstage passes also are available.

All proceeds from Colorado HempFest will go to Colorado State University's Western Colorado Research Center in Fruita, which is researching the beneficial uses of hemp.
