Legalized Marijuana Would Be Eliminated Under A Christie Presidency

Gov. Chris Christie vowed Sunday to eliminate legalized marijuana in states like Colorado and Washington if he's elected president.

The governor, speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation," said his administration would use federal rules that outlaw marijuana to clamp down on states that legalized recreational pot use.

"Yes sir," Christie told host John Dickerson when asked whether he'd go after Colorado and Washington.

"If you were president would you return the federal prosecutions in the states of Colorado, Washington states?" Dickerson asked.

"Yes," Christie said.

"So, if somebody's enjoying that now in their state, if you're president, that's getting turned off?" Dickerson continued.

"Correct," Christie responded.

Colorado and Washington have legalized recreational marijuana, which is still outlawed under federal rules. However, President Obama's administration hasn't penalized the states nor forced them to role back the initiatives that voters in those states approved.

Christie has been an outspoken critic of legalized marijuana.*

Agreed. A face saving way for him to bow out of the Repubican race for presidential nominee.

Never liked the guy & now I know why.

This guy is a bald faced liar - a NJ dad with a child shouted to him as he walked by if if would help his child with mmj for seizures - Christie said he'd look into it then later said not as long as I'm governor. What a jerk. He also spent $300000 of tax payer money on food, drinks and DESERTS mostly while enjoying football games in a climate controlled owners box. Really? That lap band surgery doesn't work when you consume $300000 worth of food big boy. That, bridge gate and now anti mj... Good luck douch!

Chris Christie is no more than a school yard bully throwing his weight around in New Germany (oops, I meant to say Jersey). He has exhibited enforcement of laws and regulations that suit him and his cronies from New York (It's amazing how many appointments he made to people from New York to positions in New Jersey government) while ignoring all other maters regardless of public opinion or the welfare of his constituents. Heck, he even violated the laws that he himself enacted regarding the pension systems for state workers and teachers! It will be a sorry day for this country if he is ever elected as president. The one thing I can say is that if he ever publicly changes his statement regarding the legalization of marijuana for either the recreational or medical use, don't believe him. The residents of New Jersey learned that the hard way. For gods sake, if he does land the Republican nomination for presidential candidate and does run, I emplore you, take the time to vote against him! You may think your vote doesn't count for much but when added to the rest of us, it's a power to be reckoned with!

Didn't the fat moron have gastric band surgery to lose weight ─ and at taxpayer's expense probably?

A couple of joints a day would have done the job better and at far lesser cost?

America seems to have a lot of politicians who are known to be incredibly stupid but what does this say about the intelligence of those who elect pondscum like this?

Well there is now one less viable GOP contender for the presidency which is good since there are too many now anyway.

Isn't that the New Jersey Governor that's under scrutiny for that turnpike situation? If so, what chance does that fool have of winning a class presidency let alone national. Get real

Yeah right, and Guantanemo is closed down too, just like Pres Obama said he'd do if he got elected. You can say a lot of things when you're campaigning; doing it is a whole other ball game. No President will go after the states on this issue. He's just appealing to the hard right conservative base because they we're pissed off when he snuggled up to Obama after the storm.

I'd say he has a zero chance of making it past the primary. The Republicans want a candidate that has a chance of winning. Not a polarizing jerk like this fatass.

Are there any Republicans who favour legalization? I'm Canadian and back in the 70s-90s we always thought the reason why Canada didn't loosen up their MJ laws was because of U.S. pressure; we always seemed more liberal in those areas...and still are in other areas. Now the U.S. is ahead of us on this issue.

LOL

With position statements like that he obviously has no desire to win anything

:bravo: You are so correct... I was wondering why he was going to "attempt" to become president with the platform of abolishing Legalized Marijuana. I feel that there is a large number of people who will come out to vote (Might cure the voter apathy lately) because of comments like he has made will guarantee no trip to the Oval Office for him. Silly bitch is just going to waste the taxpayers matching funds for his trying to get elected... What an ass... :thanks:

we have similar problem in UK, a decade ago it was moved from a class B to class C drug, and users were subject only to confiscation. Of course it was moved back and innocent people were being prosecuted again. Now we are in the situation where the issue is essentially ignored, with flat refusals to even discuss it. Cameron stands firm despite Lib Dem pressure. Whatever government we have they treat us like criminals. I really hope the US continues in the legalisation of both recreational and medical use, and maybe when im 80 years old the rest of the world will follow suit.

Here in Canada we have had the Conservative Party in power for 8 years. I'm a fan of the party and their leader, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, but unfortunately he is really opposed to decriminalization and legalization. He recently put through laws that provide mandatory minimums for growing. Six plants or more and it's off to prison for you for one year--minimum. I still vote for him though ( and keep my grow below 6) because I am a conservative on too many other issues and I cannot support the liberal/socialist alternatives.
