PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire – While democrats and republicans avoid the issue of hemp the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire is bring it to the fore front of the political arena when given the chance. At a recent debate at the Mt. Washington Hotel in Brentton Woods, NH, John Babiarz (NH gubernatorial candidate) spoke of the bio mass fuel potential of industrial hemp. Opposing candidates from the republican camp knew nothing of biomass and Bruce Keough found the concept of hemp laughable. However, no one in the room was laughing when John Babiarz thoroughly explained industrial hemp's potential for bio mass fuel, bio diesel, food and fiber.

Several of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire candidates are producing many of their campaign materials on hemp this election year. John Babiarz and Dan Belforti (First District Congressional Candidate) have already purchased hemp cotton campaign shirts. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire has also produced a line of fundraising shirts that are 55% hemp/45%cotton and a 100% hemp baseball cap, all products bearing the parties logo. Hemp industry companies involved in the project are Headcase, Hemptown, Joe Hemp Production and Enviro Textiles.

The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire is looking at the cost effectiveness of hemp yard banners and is planning on using the new line of hemp/flax recycled paper offered at Staples stores for many of their campaign materials. John Babiarz and the LPNH are making sure that politicians in NH can no longer dodge the hemp issue. To contact the LPNH please call (603) 431-1618 or visit www.lpnh.org
