I was wondering how close my 400 watt light should be from my clone? Clone has been exposed for about a week to this light at a heigh of 50 cm or so. I have dropped it closer, about 25 cm. Is this a good idea??

2 feet for clones and for mature plants 14-19 inches.... that will kill it cause the heat thats produced will kill it.

put your hand under the light when it's at full operating temp. measure at what distance it becomes warm on your hand, this distance is around where those newbies should be .... then (of coarse) move the light up as they grow or tie them down n LST the meither way use that as a general rule or get a thermometer .....
