Louisville Weighs Pot Dispensary Ban Extension

Colorado – Louisville is among a host of Colorado municipalities considering or enacting moratoriums on medical marijuana dispensaries even after the state Legislature passed new regulations for the businesses.

The Louisville City Council this week discussed whether a moratorium on dispensaries should be extended past Aug. 15. Officials will take up the matter again June. 15.

Longmont extended its moratorium and Dacono approved a new ban on dispensaries after the lawmakers approved a medical marijuana bill at the end of this year's session.

Gov. Bill Ritter has yet to sign the bill.

Many Colorado municipalities that enacted moratoriums on dispensaries throughout the last year said they did so because they wanted to wait to see what rules the Legislature would pass.
