An Agawam man, stopped for speeding Tuesday night on North Street, faces marijuana charges after police discovered a large amount of the drug in his vehicle.

Officer Krysten Scapin stopped Nicolas Pugliano at about 9 p.m. after determining he had been driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

A records check determined Pugliano was driving with a revoked license. He was taken into custody without incident.

During an inventory search of his vehicle, police found a marijuana packaged in several freezer bags and a container. Police also seized $489 as a result of the drug charges.

Pugliano, whose age and address were not immediately available, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

He was slated to be arraigned Wednesday in Westfield District Court.
