Katie's Bill Passed Wednesday in the Oklahoma House of Representatives by an overwhelming 99-2 vote. The bill will allow clinical trials for a cannabidiol oil, or CBD, that comes from a marijuana plant.

The medicine helps children who suffer from severe seizure disorders.

Rep. Jon Echols, of Oklahoma City, sponsored the bill and named it after his 10-year-old niece who has seizures.
"She started having seizures when she was six months old. I've seen them," said Nichols. "I've been around them. They've happened in my home."

The lawmaker's niece was at the Capitol to watch the debate.

The republican lawmaker says the medicine would have a very small amount of THC and would not get children high.

Rep. Echols says current medicine on the market can be very dangerous.

"One of the side effects is sudden unexpected death."

Republican lawmakers tend to lack empathy. Many of them really don't understand an issue until affects them personally.

There is an inverse relationship between empathy and sociopathy. The less empathetic a person is the more likely a person will be to express sociopathic traits. Sociopathic traits actual give an individual a competitive advantage over others; especially in politics and business. Cocaine and/or meth is the drug of choice for many such individuals, because those drugs amplify/energize their competitive, aggressive, tendencies toward others.

Oh the other hand, Cannabis, for most people, makes them more empathetic, cooperative and generous towards others. I think some of these sociopathic types in government, and in corporate executive suites, have a visceral contempt and dread of cannabis. Not just for the potential threat to their profit making interests it poses, but because they sense it may enlighten the partakers of cannabis so that they will no longer be easily intimated by them and will then subversively withdraw their support and obedience to them. Cannabis is not only healing, but also liberating.
