Massachusetts Men Busted For Pot Grows

A pair of central Massachusetts men hailed by High Times magazine as some of "New England's Patriot Pot Growers" were arrested for their large-scale home grow operations and are facing federal drug charges.

The homes of Peter Molle, a 35-year-old from Holland, and Eric Vallee, a 38-year-old from Sutton, were raided earlier this month by federal agents who found "significant commercial-style marijuana grow operations," including lighting and ventilation systems, several pounds of dried marijuana ready for sale and about 100 plants, federal prosecutors said yesterday.

The search followed similar raids at their homes in February that also revealed large pot-growing operations with more than 230 plants altogether.

Valle, who runs MassCannabis Consulting, and his friends were highly decorated for their pot produce, according to a February High Times article.

Valle told the magazine he regularly harvests 10 pounds of pot from just 16 plants using a hydroponic system that has a two-and-a-half-week turnaround.

Federal agents said based on that harvest schedule, Valle's setup would yield hundreds of pounds of pot a year.

Valle told the magazine he had high hopes for the pot business in the Bay State.

"Hopefully, with the lifting of prohibition here and in other parts of New England, the social stigma will lift and business will pick up," Valle said.

Prosecutors said Valle and Molle kept several bank accounts that received large cash deposits, likely from marijuana sales.

Valle and Molle appeared in federal court in Springfield yesterday and were released on the condition that they hand over their passports. Both were charged with marijuana manufacturing and possession with intent to distribute.
