Medical Marijuana Dispensary Proposed For Bingo Planet Building On North College Ave

Since Fort Collins voters overturned the ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in November several previous dispensaries are looking to stage a comeback.

Infinite Wellness Center, one of 21 medical marijuana dispensaries shut down when city voters originally banned them in 2011, is back with a proposal to open a dispensary and grow operation in the Bingo Planet building, 900 N. College Ave.

Green Meadows Wellness, doing business as Infinite Wellness Center, is awaiting its city license and going through the city's zoning process to get the OK to open a 2,000-square-foot dispensary and 11,000-square- foot grow facility in the cavernous Bingo Planet building, according to preliminary city plans.

Owner Cristine Romarine declined comment on the plans until she gets city approval to move forward but said if approved the dispensary would open well before the grow operation.

Infinite Wellness is among nine previous dispensaries seeking a license to reopen. Because it plans to move from its previous South College Avenue location to North College, it must go through the city's zoning process. Those reopening in their previous locations are grandfathered in, said city planner Peter Barnes.

The ballot measure approved in November limits the number of dispensaries in the city to one for every 500 medical marijuana card patients in Larimer County as reported on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website. Currently, about 4,900 patients are listed, so the city is licensing nine dispensaries. The cap can be expanded to accommodate the original dispensaries shuttered by the ban, but the door closes behind them once they reach the magic number.

As proposed, Infinite Wellness would be steps from Medical MJ Supply owned by Nick Dice at 810 N. College Ave. The measure approved in November, lifted restrictions on locating dispensaries close to each other.

Bingo Planet is still open for business but its future there is unclear. The building, owned by R and L Ventures LLC, is listed as owner of a "storage warehouse" at 900 N. College Ave., according to the county's property records. Previous plans to turn Bingo Planet into a nightclub never materialized.

R and L Ventures LLC, formerly Flack and Jensen LLC is registered to Ryan Flack according to the Colorado Secretary of State's website. R and L Venture's mailing address is listed as 5416 Vardon Way, which is the address for Ptarmigan Golf Course, where Flack is general manager. He was unavailable for comment.

"Personally, I think there are a lot better uses for building" said Realtor Sean Dougherty, owner of nearby North College Discount Liquors, and a member of the North Fort Collins Business Association. "It's a huge building. From the standpoint of North College and whether it is compatible, that has to be on the owner."

North Fort Collins businessman Ron Lautzenheiser said he does not want to see North Fort Collins become a haven for medical marijuana dispensaries. "As long and as hard as we've worked to rebuild the north side, it certainly would not be something I was in favor of."
