Medical marijuana could be available by prescription in Australia by 2017. Cancer patients, people with epilepsy and MS are among those likely to be cheered by a planned legislative change introduced to Federal Parliament yesterday by Health Minister Sussan Ley — which is being slated to pass Federal Parliament by the end of March.

The changes to the Narcotics Drugs Act 1967 will allow for cultivation through a national licensing and permit scheme. We take a look at the changes and what they might mean.
