A Knox County man fighting to legalize medical marijuana in Tennessee is turning to University of Tennessee students for help.

Steve Cooper has until June 15 to get about 20,000 signatures in order to put two questions about legalizing marijuana on the Knox County ballot in November. Tuesday, Cooper worked with students pushing to change drugs policies, by getting signatures on campus.

"I think students are really interested in this issue moving forward. Not only in voting in this upcoming November election, but also in talking about what they see is unfair policies for our generation," said Miranda Gottlieb, chapter leader of Students for Sensible Drug Policy.

"I wanted to get down here on campus to catch these guys before they're gone for the summer," said Cooper.

Cooper says he has about 3,000 signatures so far and has plans in motion to collect more.
