MIAMI, March 1 (Reuters) - Agents found more than two tonnes of marijuana
worth $4 million hidden in a container of yams on a ship from Jamaica, the
U.S. Customs Service said on Friday.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted Customs inspectors to the shipment as it was
being taken off the container ship "Seaboard Express" at the Port of Miami on
Thursday, officials said in a news release.

More than 100 boxes of yams contained plastic-and-tape-wrapped bricks of
marijuana weighing 4,344 pounds (1,970 kg) and valued at more than $4 million
wholesale, agents said. The ship had arrived on Thursday from Kingston,
Jamaica.

Jamaica is the leading producer and exporter of marijuana in the Caribbean,
according to the U.S. government's annual global drug trade report, released
on Friday.
