MIAMI -- Customs agents searching containers offloaded from a freighter
just arrived from Jamaica seized more than $5 million worth of marijuana
hidden in a load marked on the ship's manifest as empty chlorine tanks.

The drug shipment, totaling 5,652 pounds, was found Monday evening in one
of the last containers unloaded from the cargo ship Seaboard Venture, which
reached the port earlier in the day from Kingston.

Instead of the empty chlorine tanks, agents found 68 plastic and
burlap-wrapped bales of marijuana, each weighing approximately 80 pounds,
according to a statement issued Tuesday by the U.S. Customs Service.

Some of the drug bales contained smaller packages of marijuana in plastic
wrap, while other bales carried aluminum cans full of the drug.

No arrests have been made.
