LAPEER, Michigan -- Several buses full of medical marijuana patients, caregivers and advocates drove to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office to protest against recent raids of a medical marijuana dispensary in Dryden.

Shouting "Free the weed," and waving signs that say "It's all natural," "Patients have rights," and "We need our medicine," at sheriff's deputies, the advocates came from as far away as Detroit, Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Oakland County.

Rick Thompson, editor of Michigan Medical Marijuana Magazine, spoke about the recent raid of the Dryden dispensary where police seized customer records.

"The police have a very narrow interpretation of the law," he said. "They should not be allowed to take patient records."

Thompson and Randy Crowel said the police violated privacy laws by taking customer records.

The protesters are also traveling to Oakland County to protest against raids there.
