A sheriff's team Tuesday removed 28,736 marijuana plants discovered growing in a remote section of Malibu Creek State Park, but no arrests were made, despite evidence growers had been there, authorities said.
The plants were discovered from the air in the area of the 28900 block of Crags Drive, according to the sheriff's department. Sheriff's narcotics detectives assigned to the Marijuana Eradication Team began loading the plants, each about 6 feet tall, into trucks for disposal about 8 a.m.

"All the plants were pulled out one at a time and each deputy kept his own count," said Lt. Pete Fosselman, a sheriff's narcotics official. "There was a tent in one of the canyons adjacent to the grow and there was food and evidence of people living in there. Some of the plants appeared to have been abandoned in the last couple of days." It is not unusual for marijuana crops to be discovered, but no growers to be found, Fosselman said. "This is the sixth such grow this year and we have not found anyone," Fosselman said.

I think that's funny that each deputy had to keep their own count. Apparently, there's been a problem with weed theft by a deputy.

"Seems that each time we count this, it's down by an 1/8th." :hmmmm:

Apparently this county has had problems in the past with deputies stealing weed.

"This stack of weed keeps getting smaller by the 1/8 every time we count it." :hmmmm:
