A hot topic circulating around Lansing is medical marijuana.

Small municipalities have been calling for better rules surrounding it for years, now one economist says with the right regulations in place the state could get a lot of money.

Dr. Gary Wolfram, a professor of economics at Hillsdale College, will release an economic impact report Monday, which he says shows a strong regulatory framework for medical marijuana.

Dr. Wolfram says it could generate significant revenue for the state government.

That framework is currently being considered in the legislature as package of three state house bills.
