The state's second medical marijuana dispensary will open its doors today.

The Temescal Wellness dispensary in Dover was certified by the state Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday and will start operating today.

The announcement came a week after the first dispensary opened for business Saturday in Plymouth. The Plymouth location is operated by Sanctuary ATC.

Temescal Wellness also owns a dispensary in Lebanon that is set to open in the next few weeks.

Patients from the Concord area will be served by the Merrimack dispensary, which is operated by Prime Alternative Treatment Centers and will open later in the summer due to a delay that came with a change of location.

Qualifying patients in the Concord area who wish to use another dispensary sooner can call HHS to request to change their alternative treatment center.

The process to switch takes up to 20 days.

However, patients can only be enrolled at one alternative treatment center at a time; if a person tries to access two dispensaries at once, the alternative treatment center will be notified, HHS officials said.

Applications for potentially qualifying patients, designated caregivers and medical provider certification can be found on the Therapeutic Cannabis Program page on the HHS website at dhhs.nh.gov/oos/tcp/index.htm.
