Cannabis advocates are hoping lawmakers can set separate rules about indoor and outdoor grows, as the industry is rapidly expanding following recreational legalization.

Some growers hope legislation won't hinder our region's ability to capitalize on this new emerging industry.

"We have an opportunity to create an Appalachian as the wine industry does, be proud of our the herb that we can grow here," said Brie Malarkey, owner of Breeze Botanicals.

Southern Oregon's climate makes it one of the best places in the world to grow cannabis.

Other parts of the state grow indoors.

It uses up a lot of power, but indoor growers say they use much less water than outdoor growers use.

Jackson County Commissioners voted last Thursday to not allow recreational or medical marijuana production on rural residential lands.

Recreational pot was deemed "farm use" not "agriculture use." That means you can't make a business out of it.

Senate Bill 1598 put recreational and medical marijuana in the same category from a land-use perspective.
