P&Z To Review Medical Marijuana Law

The Planning and Zoning Commission plans to conduct a work/study meeting on the voter-approved marijuana law when the commission meets Monday evening.

Commission Chairman Keith Burley said he will reserve comment until he hears from Community Development Department staff Monday. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the magistrate courtroom on the first floor of the Civic Center, 7501 E. Civic Circle.

"The commission hasn't heard anything yet on this," he said.

The commission will discuss a possible ordinance amendment because Arizona voters Nov. 2 narrowly approved Proposition 203, which legalized medical marijuana.

State officials approved 124 spots statewide for marijuana dispensaries, The Associated Press reported recently.
