The state Department of Health has granted two Northeast Pennsylvania companies permits to grow medical marijuana.
Standard Farms LLC in White Haven and Pennsylvania Medical Solutions LLC in Scranton are two of 12 companies statewide to receive growing permits, the department's Office of Medical Marijuana announced this afternoon.
The companies will have six months to become operational, office Director John Collins said during a news conference that was broadcast live online.
Nearly 180 applicants had applied statewide to be growers, with 28 of them from the northeast region.
