Hi I just notice small green flys in the tent only 2 or 3 ......
I think because the window was opened
Are they harmful
What insects are not good ?

Also have you guys heard of the product
Mills/ vitalize some sort silicone ?

Isit a good product

Not sure about small green flies but often fungus gnats will find your grow, they lay eggs in soil and their larve feed on your plants roots. Fungus gnats fly over the canopy and land on the leaves. Yellow sticky cards can be purchased and they attract insects which are trapped on the sticky surface plus there are products like Neem or mosquito dunks to break the life cycle. There are probably more bad insects than good, but aphids, mites, leafhoppers, leaf miners, slugs, fungus gnats are all detrimental to your plants.

Every nute manufacturer would like for you to belive their version of snake oil is the silver bullet that will propel your garden to success. Many growers add silica products into the soil mix. there are many benefits from this additive.... but avoid silicone because it’s a plastic or polymer

Never heard of mills revitalize.... so no opinions there but many nute companies offer their version of silica or you can use diatomaceous earth.

No not all flies... I don’t know that regular house flies have a bad impact but if you are seeing them fly in circles over the canopy then it could be a pest looking for an opportunity. Initially fungus gnats (very small flies) are probably attracted to the funky smell of soil, the humidity in the soil and the warmth from your lighting but pretty soon a dude fly sees a voluptuous chick fly zoom past and it’s on. Then your garden becomes the scene for an insect porno and fungus gnat orgy.

look up yellow sticky traps - most insects are attracted to the color yellow. This is a trap and only catches the ones that land on it. There are probably others in the form of eggs or larvae in your soil.
Pest management is part of growing and be very careful when coming in from hiking or yard work. It’s easy to contaminate your own garden with pests. But you also will probably need products like Safers Soap, Neem, Spinosad and mosquito dunks. Mosquito dunks can be broken up and used as top dressing on your soil plus put 1/4 dunk in 5 gallon bucket of water and use that for watering your plants. Same for Neem, neem or karanja cakes can be used as top dressing but there is also a Neem concentrate for spraying foliage.

Yes thanks
The flys are not going around 8n a circle I just spotted 2 or 3
But that's fine ......
Am I alright to spray pest pray ? Or will that affect the cannopy

What spray have you got? Cause if it’s raid or some shit no!

Anything you spray has the potential to do damage but I always bud wash at harvest and strongly recommend it. But yes growers use sprays all the time. Safers soap, SNS, insecticide soap, neem, Spinosad, BT are the most common and there are more natural remedies that use orange oil and non scented dish detergent but that may be more of a deterrent than a cure.
