Possible mildew on White Widow autos

My crop king white widow auto flowers are growing outside in a sort of “ gorilla grow”. They started budding several weeks ago and I was so pumped. The buds are coming out so big, and I think I’m about two weeks away from harvest. We recently had 3 days of rain, and more to come. I went and checked on my plants and I think they might have developed a mildew issue. I am worried that my entire grow op is destroyed, but I’ve had several people
Tell me it looks less like a Mold/ mildew issue and more like a bug issue. I’m hoping to get a better answer here. I’m crushed that my plants are probably destroyed but I defiantly want to know if they are salvageable or just have a bug problem.

Some of the pictures have white spots on the bud leafs, zoom in on those and you’ll get an idea of what I’m looking at.

Can I see a picture of your plants?

Mine still seem to have the issue but I’m finding it’s kind of a film rather than a powder. Lots of the leaves have holes in them and every so often one has this white film. I kept them growing for the hell of it, I just cut all that stuff off with scissors. I think all this trimming is bad for them, but it’s my only option to even possible have a useful crop.

Guys, it's very tough to tell from just those pics, so let me try to help you each ID your issues, which may be different but can appear the same.

The possibilities I would look at are:

1) Powdery Mildew - see Cannabis Training University - Powdery Mildew and Cannabis

Powdery Mildew looks like this:

2) Spider Mites - "Spider mites are by far the worst pest to have, because they are the hardest to kill and can literally kill any plant. They are by far more active in warmer climates than cold ones, they also suck sup from the leaves leaving tiny white spots on the leaves from where they suck on. The damage they do is just like thrips, but with spider mites they pierce the surface of the leaves and can show tiny holes or white speckling damage, unlike with thirps they eat the surface of the chlorophyll. You can tell when you have infestation of spider mites , because you will have distorted growth, shortened internodes and petioles. When you have bad infestation you will see webbing with larva in them."

Spider Mite damage looks like this:

3) Thrips - "Thrips are really tiny, but can be seen by the naked eye. Some may have wings and some may not. Thrips reproduce rapidly, especially in tight places. That is what makes them hard to get rid of when using pesticides. The suck the sap right out of your plant with there piercing mouths, which makes the leaves look like they turned white. You can tell when you have thrips by taking a look at your leaves, the leaves will look as if there chlorophyll have been ripped right off the plant. Plants that are damaged can't be healed thus making it harder for the plant to absorb light. SO if left untreated the thrips will kill the plants. Damage also can be seen by the greenish black specks of there poop they leave on leaves. Also the plants will show silver patchs from scar tissue. Depending on the severity at first, thrip damage might look like spider mite damage untill it increases in damage and then thrips case is for sure when you see the greenness replace with big parts of white."

Thrip damage looks like this:

Thrips are visible to the human eye and look like this:

As you can see, the damage all looks very similar in the pics, so very tough to ID by pics alone.

If you believe it's PM or some sort of other fungus, spray with an OMRI listed fungicide or other suitable substance (i.e. you can kill PM with milk!). If you think it's spiter mites or thrips, spray with an OMRI listed miticide, like Spinosad (see "Captain Jack's Dead Bug" available at most home centers!) or, again, take other suitable measures (neem oil, lady bugs, etc.)

I hope that helps!

:Namaste:

I have a lot of bugs, and I’m hoping it’s just the bugs producing the white film on the leaves. Is this a thrip?
