New state laws in Washington regarding marijuana smoking and doing so in public are obliged at a bar in Thurston County.
For a $10 fee, you can join Friends of Frankie's, a private club on the second floor run by volunteers. The space is designed for those who want to smoke cigarettes inside despite a ban on tobacco smoking in bars statewide.
Now, they are lighting up the pot pipes inside the top floor of Frankie's Bar.
"I have a smoking room it hasn't changed at all for me," said bar owner Frank Schnarr.
The Thurston County Health Department says Frankie appears to be within his legal rights.
"We don't see there is a need for us to be taking enforcement action against Frankie," said county health department official Art Starry.
The reader board out front says, "Come support the states' new revenue."
While all club members are not happy about it, Schnarr said it's all about drawing smokers in to sell them drinks, not pot.
"We all hope we make a buck off it [he and the state of Washington]", said Schnarr.
