A well-known Tehama County family is in trouble with the law following a marijuana bust earlier this month.

Real estate agent Don Rickey, his wife, Jan, and their son, Tyler, were arrested in Red Bluff on charges of selling and growing marijuana.

The arrests were part of a larger sting operation by the Tehama County Drug Enforcement Task Force (TIDE) that led to a total of 21 arrests and rounded up almost $2.3 million dollars worth of marijuana.

“There are literally hundreds of these large commercial marijuana grow operations through Tehama county,” said Eric Maher, a TIDE Special Agent. “What we’ve done in the past few weeks, we’re really just scratching the surface.”

“Still, it feels good to get these drugs off the street,” Maher said.

Police say about $600-thousand dollars worth of marijuana was recovered from the Rickey’s home. At another location in Corning, police say the family kept another $300-thousand dollars worth of marijuana.

If convicted, the Rickey’s could face up to four years in prison. Jan Rickey declined to comment on the charges.

Drugs, money, and paraphernalia were found at three other locations not linked to the Rickey’s. At one of those locations, police say they rescued five children under the age of eight. Tehama County Child Services has placed the children into foster care.
