R.I. - Officer resigns after marijuana theft

MIDDLETOWN, -- A local police officer resigned before being allowed to plead no contest to stealing marijuana from an evidence locker.

Michael Braley on Friday received a sentence of 10 years probation from a Superior Court judge. Prosecutors say Braley in May stole a small bag of marijuana from the department locker.

"What's most important from our perspective is that Mr. Braley is no longer a police officer," Attorney General Patrick Lynch said in a release.

Prison

Should have given him prison. Cops stealing from the evidence, what worse crime could there be? ANd they let him resign. Throw us in jail, ruin glass blowers, but the scumbag cop gets probation.
