Resident Smoking Pot In Nursing Home

Police responded to a complaint from the staff at the Golden Living Center off Route 3A that one of the residents had been smoking marijuana in his room. Police responded and seized a small amount of the drug. The 52-year-old man was issued a $100 civil citation for possession of one ounce or less of marijuana. He claimed to have a prescription for medical marijuana but could not produce it. Police said there are no prescriptions yet for the drug in Massachusetts as the Department of Public Health is still developing the regulations.
