San Diego Supervisors: Naming the Bad Guys

Dear 420 Voters of San Diego County,

As we are all aware, San Diego is one of several counties still refusing to issue medical marijuana cards - in direct violation of Prop 215.

This is clearly against the will of the voters and the instructions of the courts.

With the Board of Supervisors' Aug 5 decision to seek yet another appeal, this time to the State's Supreme Court, I wanted to take a moment to try and add transparency to the issue. Below is the record of how our elected officials voted on this key issue.

Both decisions to appeal were the result of a 4-1 vote.

The Good Guy
The lone vote to uphold the will of the people was from Ron Roberts (District 4 Republican). Mr. Roberts was also the sole vote trying to block the last appeal. Even though Mr. Roberts isn't up for re-election until 2010, an email ron.roberts@sdcounty.ca.gov or phone call (619-531-5544) of support would surely be appreciated.

The Bad Guys
Three of the five Supervisors who voted to spend more taxpayer dollars by appealing the ruling to States Highest Court are up for re-election this November. I urge every voter to make their voice heard by making polite but direct contact with their elected representatives.

1st District: Greg Cox Phone: 619-531-5511 greg.cox@sdcounty.ca.gov
2nd District: Dianne Jacob: 619-441-4327 dianne.jacob@sdcounty.ca.gov
3rd District: Pam Slater-Price 619-531-5533 pam.slater@sdcounty.ca.gov

Additionally, the 5th District Supervisor, Bill Horn: 619-531-5555 bill.horn@sdcounty.ca.gov also voted to appeal the court's ruling. Though he is not up for reelection until 2010, the more Mr. Horn hears from his constituency the better the chances he'll reconsider his stance going forward.

It has been said that politicians use a ratio of 100 (or more) to 1 to estimate the opinion of the populace. Your one phone call or email could be considered as representative of 100 or more citizens in the eyes of your elected official.
