San Jose Looks to Curb Medical Marijuana Industry

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose lawmakers are taking a stab at downsizing and regulating the city's medical marijuana industry.

The City Council on Tuesday was reviewing a set of regulations that would sharply limit how and where pot collectives can operate and cap their number at 10. San Jose currently has about 100 cannabis dispensaries and delivery services.

The new rules would require licensed collectives to grow all the medical marijuana they distribute on-site.

Dispensary operators opposed that provision, saying it would require them to plant huge gardens that would make them targets for federal drug raids.

The regulations also would require pot clubs to close by 8 p.m. and prohibit them from doing business in street-level storefronts in areas that get a lot of foot traffic.

Clubs would compete for the 10 operating licenses through a first-come, first-served registration process.

Same BS just a different day.....looks like the same issue as here in LA..how can 10 take the place of 100?? doesn't seem that hard to figure out..unless you make it that way...:passitleft::peace:

The City of SJ laid off workers because they couldn't pay them anymore. Teachers, policeman, busdrivers, the list goes on. The line @ Social Services Office starts outside the building and just gets longer. There are so many people out of work, yet the city council sits like a bunch of fat kings while the county just shakes their head.

Collectives are not the problem. It's an opportunity to pull the city out of the hole by collecting whatever taxes and licensing they have to charge, and leave the Collectives alone! 10 Collectives and a couple million people, they ought to be ashamed.

:peace:

Let's review;
100+ collectives down to 10
1st Come/1st Serve application process
On-site Cultivation (only) No Vendors

All devised by the wonderful leadership in San Jose. They have not learned a thing in the past two years. The Council is responsible for this mess and their fine ordinance will make it more of a mess. Hey SJ City Council, here is a word that will be synonymous with the medical cannabis movement.

Can you say..............

R E F E R E N D U M ???

Thank you for wasting the city's time and money.

To some, medical marijuana is remonstrated because they consider it as illegal, but to others, medical cannabis sativa represents an essential medicine that alleviates debilitating symptoms. Recently, a huge issue stirred the populace about medical marijuana in San Jose. Every year, the state of California gets significant amounts of money from medical cannabis. Yes you read it right! There is around $1 billion in profits taxes paid to California and its towns from weed profits. And so lately, the area of San Jose has voted to limit medical marijuana sales within the city. The vote, however, also makes medical weed profits in the area legal. Now, what do you think will be its impact?
