Seedling lights

I have one 45" T5 light. See pic. That I can use to line up by seedlings below. Or I have a glass incased, vented 1000w MH reflector. See pic.

In other threads I've read that the MH will be fine if 4' away and air cooled and others have sworn by T5. The thing is, I only have one T5 bulb. Ha.

What would you go with? Oh, and I have to leave for the weekend and leave them below the light. Emergency.

Oh no kidding! I was told 6". I have them around 4ish.

It's OK if you place your hand at the pot, does light burn you?
If no, your fine.
They like it warm and cosy.
