Small closet for medical grow

I'm setting up a closet to grow 3 plants, my allowed amount here in Colorado.
I think I'm off to a good start. My room is 30" x 42" x 6 feet high. I have a 400 hps and a nice hood. I'm running a bathroom fan that draws 80 cfm for ventilation. I picked up 3 waterfarm setups at the local hydro store, and some basic nutrients from general hydroponics.
My questions so far include:
Is my room tall enough? There is limited room between the bottom of the light, and the top of the 5 gallon bucket. How close should I allow the plants to get to the light?
Should I keep the hydro pumps running while the lights are out?

Any tips for growing in a very dry climate?

I'm a closet grower as well. During my 1st grow my plants were about 10-14" tall when I switch to flowering. They grew twice, perhaps 3 times that before harvest. If your plants go on top of a 5 gallon bucket, w/ur 400w hps, it might be alittle tight. If ya had CFLs you could do it, that's what I use on my grows :goodluck:
Hydro grow you keep the pump running, research runtimes from other hydro grow journals. Hps light @ least a foot away from the top of plant.
