A famous television cop is in trouble with the local law enforcement. Former Starsky and Hutch star Paul Michael Glaser faces a marijuana possession citation in Bowling Green.

Police said someone saw Glaser smoking marijuana at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The actor, who played Det. David Starsky in the 1970s show, told officers he has a prescription in California for medical marijuana. But it's still illegal to possess in Kentucky.

"Once you have a prescription for marijuana in the state of California, you're allowed to use it or possess it. But Kentucky doesn't recognize any of the prescription abilities for marijuana," said Bowling Green Police spokesman Ofc. Ronnie Ward

Bowling Green police said they don't know whether Glaser legitimately has a prescription, because it doesn't affect his charges in Kentucky.

Glaser was visiting Bowling Green to read to local students from his new book.
