Bowling Green - A former Warren County business owner was one of nine people indicted in connection with a massive, nationwide marijuana trafficking and auto-theft ring.

Raymond Johnson, 41, owner of now-closed Bluegrass Collision, was indicted Wednesday in Warren Circuit Court on charges of trafficking in marijuana over 5 pounds, 21 counts of receiving stolen property and 21 counts of obscuring the identity of a machine.

Police said the seven-month investigation is continuing.

Detectives have found more than 650 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of about $1.17 million.

"This is certainly the largest marijuana group we've dealt with in the eight years we've been around," said Tommy Loving, director of the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force.

In June, an undercover detective bought 5 pounds of marijuana from the ring, according to the task force. A month later, 364 pounds of marijuana and two stolen vehicles were found in the groups storage facility on Pioneer Drive. Subsequent investigations turned up another 282 pounds of marijuana, police said.

The Kentucky State Police Auto Theft Unit assisted the task force and recovered 22 stolen vehicles throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. The cars were valued at more than $500,000.

The eight others were indicted on assorted drug and theft charges. All were from Bowling Green, except Anthony J. Reece, who is from Columbia.
