State Sen. John Schickel of Boone County is the chair of the Licensing & Occupations Committee in the Kentucky Legislature. He decides what bills will be heard in this committee. There are two bills regarding cannabis sitting in the committee, where they will die.

SB 263 is a comprehensive, non-monopoly, Medical Cannabis Bill that could benefit 150,000 sick citizens in Kentucky.

According to a May 2013 poll by Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, 78 percent of Kentuckians favor marijuana for medical patients if their physician recommends it. Schickel needs to hear the voice of the majority of constituents.
